The Centennial Stars are taking a road trip to square off against the Centerburg Trojans at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday. Centennial is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last eight games.
Last Wednesday, Centennial needed a bit of extra time to put away Whetstone. They skirted past the Braves 8-6. The game snapped a strange streak: the last four times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.

Ellie Glover made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 8.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and six unearned) runs off seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of her five plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Ryan Hammond was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last six times she's played. Aza Corbett was another key player, getting on base in two of her five plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Centennial was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in seven consecutive games.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Centerburg's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They fell just short of Cardington-Lincoln by a score of 4-3.
Sydnee Schoonover was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Jazmyn Larimore, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.
Centennial's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.2 runs over those games. As for Centerburg, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-6.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. Centennial hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.4 home runs per game. However, it's not like Centerburg struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.5 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Centennial suffered a grim 13-3 defeat to Centerburg when the teams last played back in April of 2021. Can the Stars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
