Softball Game Preview: Gallia Academy Blue Devils vs. Washington Blue Lions

The Gallia Academy Blue Devils will face off against the Washington Blue Lions at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Gallia Academy has three straight victories, Washington has 17 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

While Gallia Academy didn't have the best season last year (they finished 3-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They walked away with a 7-4 win over Fairland on Wednesday.

Chloe Bennett was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Bennett was even better at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Ava Angel was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Sarah Thomas also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for Washington's offense. They came up short against Hillsboro on Wednesday, falling 14-0.

Gallia Academy's victory bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Washington, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-6.
