Football Recap: Los Amigos Comes Up Short

Los Amigos fell victim to Costa Mesa and their airtight defense on Wednesday. They were outmatched by the Mustangs and fell 37-0. While losing is never fun, the Lobos can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 515th, while the Mustangs are ranked 167th).

Costa Mesa found their leader in freshman Emma Freeland, who threw for 204 yards and four TDs, and also rushed for 111 yards and one touchdown on only eight carries. Those 111 rushing yards set a new season-high mark for Freeland. Kassandra Ramirez was Freeland's top target, picking up 52 receiving yards, while also rushing for 70 yards and one score.

Los Amigos is on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-5. As for Costa Mesa, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 5-1.

Coincidentally, Los Amigos and Costa Mesa will both be playing Western the next time they take the field. The Mustangs will host the Pioneers at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, while the Lobos will head out to face them at 3:15 p.m. on the 15th.
