Basketball Recap: Victoria West Continues Home Dominance on Friday

There's no place like home for Victoria West, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They strolled past the Lamar Consolidated Mustangs with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 61-47. Given the Warriors' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 432nd, while the Mustangs are ranked 1283rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

When it comes to explaining why Lamar Consolidated lost, don't look at Kaylani Nichols. Despite the final result, she posted 13 points in addition to eight rebounds and five steals. That's the most boards Nichols has posted since back in November of 2024. Kelechi Onuegbu also deserves some recognition as she scored her first points of the season.
