After a string of 17 wins, the Caston Comets's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They took a 47-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of Tri-County. Caston was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Tri-County apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Caston's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Isabel Scales, who scored 14 points along with nine steals and six rebounds. Scales also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Addison Zimpleman was another key contributor, scoring 19 points along with six rebounds.
Tri-County's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sara Zarse, who scored nine points along with 11 rebounds and three steals. Caston will be playing in front of their home fans against North Miami at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. North Miami will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings (they are ranked 223rd, while Caston is ranked 57th). Tri-County on the road again on Tuesday and play against Clinton Central at 6:00 p.m. on January 16th. Clinton Central is on a six-game streak of home wins, Tri-County a four-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
