Softball Preview: Atlee Raiders vs. Courtland Cougars
The Atlee Raiders will challenge the Courtland Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Atlee will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
Atlee came out on top against Glen Allen on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive eight-run third inning. The Raiders took their match against the Jaguars 11-7. The game was the first time the Raiders have beaten the Jaguars on their field since May 1, 2017.
Sierra Kegley made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed seven innings while giving up four earned (and three unearned) runs off 11 hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Leah Austin and Izzie Turnauer did most of the damage at the plate: Austin got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while Turnauer went a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, one run, and one double. Those four hits gave Turnauer a new career-high. Ava Carter was another key player, going 2-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Meanwhile, Courtland lost 15-7 to Spotsylvania last Monday. The defeat continues a trend for the Cougars in their meetings with the Knights: they've now lost six in a row.
