Softball Recap: Madison Academy Snags Eighth Win in Last Nine Games

Madison Academy came out on top against Elkmont on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive ten-run seventh inning. The Mustangs were the clear victors by a 15-1 margin over the Red Devils. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won 20 matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Cataryna Schreiber was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 13 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 14 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with two doubles and one RBI. What's more, she posted three hits, the most she's had since back in March.

In other batting news, Madison Academy let Emily Burgreen and Evie Stephenson run wild. Burgreen went 3-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs, while Stephenson went 3-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI Stephenson has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Mya Western, who went 3-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run.

Madison Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Madison Academy is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 27-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Elkmont, they dropped their record down to 14-15 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

Madison Academy has already played their next contest, a 12-0 victory against Whitesburg Christian Academy on the 29th. Elkmont does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
