Baseball Recap: Mantachie Comes Up Short

If Mantachie was riding high fresh off their 12-2 takedown of Tremont last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Mustangs lost 16-6 to the Booneville Blue Devils on Tuesday. The loss continues a trend for the Mustangs in their meetings with the Blue Devils: they've now lost eight in a row.

Mantachie saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hudson Trulove, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2. Collin Elliott was another, going 1-for-2 with three RBI.

Mantachie's defeat dropped their record down to 8-13. As for Booneville, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-14 record this season.

While Mantachie had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
