Volleyball Game Preview: Lake Nona Lions vs. Innovation Bulls

The Lake Nona Lions will head out to challenge the Innovation Bulls at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Lake Nona's tournament run continued when they took on Freedom on Saturday. The Lions took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Patriots. The loss continues a trend for the Lions in their meetings with the Patriots: they've now lost four in a row.

Lake Nona was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the first set very close. The final score came out to 25-22, 25-17.

Jonathan Mckenna put forth a good effort for the losing side as he had 14 digs and two aces. He is on a roll when it comes to digs, as he's now had 12 or more in each of the last six games he's played.

Meanwhile, Innovation lost 3-0 to Oak Ridge on Saturday.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 25-16, 15-10.

Innovation has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season. As for Lake Nona, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-12.

Lake Nona beat Innovation 2-0 in their previous meeting back in March. Will the Lions repeat their success, or do the Bulls have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
