Softball Recap: Greenfield Wins Going Away Against Pajaro Valley

Greenfield and Pajaro Valley faced off in a Battle of the Bears on Wednesday. The Bruins put the hurt on the Grizzlies with a sharp 23-2 victory. The Bruins haven't had any issues with the Grizzlies recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Chloe Zavala made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Brieza Rojas was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, seven RBI, and three runs. Those seven RBI gave her a new career-high. Marissa Castillo also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Greenfield was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .611. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pajaro Valley only posted a batting average of .200.

Greenfield's record now sits at 8-13. As for Pajaro Valley, they moved to 6-9 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Greenfield will venture away from home to face off against Marina at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Pajaro Valley, they will head out to take on Carmel at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
