Volleyball Recap: Lillie Heiland Leads a Balanced Effort to Beat Hoxie

Smith Center won the last time they faced Hoxie and things went their way on Saturday too. The Redmen came out on top against the Indians by a score of 2-0.

Smith Center easily took the first set, but they let things get interesting in the other. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-14, 25-20.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Smith Center to victory, but perhaps none more so than Lillie Heiland, who had 19 digs. Heiland is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 14 or more in each of the last seven games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Tatumn Rentschler, who had 14 assists and eight digs.

Smith Center's win bumped their record up to 16-12. As for Hoxie, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 14-14 record this season.

Smith Center has already played their next matchup, a 2-1 defeat against Norton on the 11th. As for Hoxie, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 2-1 loss against Oakley on the 11th.
