Preview: Johnson-Brock Eagles vs. Sterling Jets
Johnson-Brock is 10-0 against Sterling since January of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Johnson-Brock Eagles will be home for the holidays to greet the Sterling Jets at 7:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Johnson-Brock has 13 straight wins, Sterling has ten straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Last Friday, Johnson-Brock beat Tri County 40-27. Despite the win, that was the fewest points Johnson-Brock has scored all year.
Camden Dalinghaus was his usual excellent self, scoring 11 points along with three steals. The matchup was his fifth in a row with at least ten points. Lleyton Behrends was another key contributor, scoring four points.
Meanwhile, Sterling came up short against East Butler on Saturday and fell 49-38.
The losing side was boosted by Colin Wambold, who scored 22 points along with six rebounds. He scored a full 57.9% of Sterling's points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Johnson-Brock's win bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Sterling, their defeat was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-6.
This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Johnson-Brock hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 61 points per game. It's a different story for Sterling, though, as they've been averaging only 26 points per game. The only thing between Johnson-Brock and another offensive beatdown is Sterling. Will they be able to keep them contained?
Everything came up roses for Johnson-Brock against Sterling in their previous meeting back in December of 2022 as the squad secured a 59-23 victory. Will Johnson-Brock repeat their success, or does Sterling have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
