Baseball Recap: Cedarville Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Cedarville, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Fairbanks Panthers a 2-0 shutout on Wednesday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Indians as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Tavin Baldwin was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. Baldwin was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2. He is becoming a predictor of Cedarville's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 2-1 (and 1-3 when he doesn't).

Baldwin wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Xavier Pauling, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI. Another was Jacob Lide, who scored a run and stole two bases.

Cedarville's record is now 3-4. As for Fairbanks, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

Looking ahead, Cedarville will be playing in front of their home fans against East Clinton at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Fairbanks, they will head out to face off against Riverside at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
