Basketball Recap: Yulee Snaps Five-Game Streak of Wins at Home

The match between the Yulee Hornets and the Fernandina Beach Pirates didn't end well, with the Yulee Hornets falling 55-38. The Hornets haven't had much luck with the Pirates recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.

When it comes to explaining why Yulee lost on Friday, don't look at Chase Cannone. Despite the final result, he went 7 of 14 on his way to 21 points and three steals. The dominant performance gave Cannone a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of JaQuan Matthews, who posted six points.

Jake Aronowitz continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Fernandina Beach, going 8 of 13 on his way to 21 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Aronowitz continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. Jesse Basse was another key player, going 8 for 14 on his way to 18 points and seven rebounds.

Yulee's defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-6. As for Fernandina Beach, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-6.

Yulee will look to defend their home court on Monday against Middleburg at 7:30 p.m. Yulee is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 62.1 points per game this season. As for Fernandina Beach, they will head out to face off against Hilliard at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Hilliard's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four games.
