Baseball Recap: James Monroe Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Greenbrier East, James Monroe was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Princeton Tigers by a score of 7-4. The Mavericks haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Peyton Gardinier made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has become a key player for James Monroe: the team is 4-1 when he allows at most two hits, but 5-6 otherwise. Gardinier was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cameron Crislip, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases he has posted over his last 11 matches.

James Monroe's victory bumped their record up to 9-7. As for Princeton, they are on a 14-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-14.
