Volleyball Recap: La Jolla Vikings vs. Helix Highlanders
La Jolla gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Helix Highlanders, sneaking past 3-2. That's more bragging rights for the Vikings, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.
La Jolla took Helix into a fifth set where they got it done with a six-point win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 21-25, 25-20, 25-22, 21-25, 15-9.
Helix is on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.
Looking ahead, La Jolla will be playing in front of their home fans against Bishop's at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Helix, they will challenge Otay Ranch at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
