Basketball Recap: Goochland Comes Up Short

Goochland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They had to suffer through a 60-16 loss at the hands of the Orange County Fighting Hornets. The Bulldogs lost against the Fighting Hornets in their previous head to head back in February of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 68-3 score last time.

Tayla Johnson was nothing short of spectacular for Orange County: she went 9 of 19 on her way to 23 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. Orange County is 6-3 when Johnson posts five or more steals, but 3-5 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Emma Mastin, who went 5 for 7 en route to 14 points.

Goochland's defeat dropped their record down to 1-11. As for Orange County, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 9-8 record this season.

Goochland has already played their next game, a 42-32 loss against Lunenburg Central on the 29th. As for Orange County, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 48-42 victory against Fluvanna County on the 29th.
