Softball Recap: Hoopa Valley Triumphs

Hoopa Valley proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by 12) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out the Ferndale Wildcats 9-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Warriors have posted since March 14th.

The team relied heavily on Kalia Mitchell, who got on base in four of her six plate appearances with two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Angela Hern, who got three hits from her five at bats.

Hoopa Valley is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. As for Ferndale, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-3.

Looking ahead, Hoopa Valley will square off against St. Bernard's at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Ferndale, they will challenge Arcata at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
