Apopka and Olympia are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2018, but likely not for long. The Apopka Blue Darters will venture away from home to face off against the Olympia Titans at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Olympia took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Apopka, who comes in off a win.
Apopka is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victor by a 10-2 margin over Ocoee on Friday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Blue Darters with their most commanding win of the season.
Logan Page tossed a big game, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 13 over six innings pitched.
On the hitting side, Nicolas Posluszny and Aiden Rieli did most of the damage at the plate: Posluszny scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances, while Rieli scored two runs while going 2-for-4. Posluszny also put up a double, which washis first of the season. Another player making a difference was Peyton Neeley, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
Apopka kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Olympia didn't have quite enough to beat Hagerty on Thursday and fell 2-1. The Titans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Olympia also got a good showing from Trace Furniss, who tossed four innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. That's the fewest hits Furniss has allowed since back in March of 2024.
The win made it two in a row for Apopka and bumps their season record up to 3-2. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing 10.5 hits in those games compared to only 2.33 in the others. As for Olympia, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.
Apopka's speedy runners might be the difference in Monday's contest. Apopka has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.2 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Olympia, though, as they've been averaging only 1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Apopka continue to outrun the ball?
