Basketball Game Preview: Flowing Wells Caballeros vs. Cienega Bobcats

Flowing Wells hasn't had much luck against Cienega recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Flowing Wells Caballeros will take on the Cienega Bobcats at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Friday, Flowing Wells ended up a good deal behind Nogales and lost 74-57.

Flowing Wells might have lost, but man, Isaias Encinas was a machine: he posted 17 points and four steals. Encinas has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jose Cureses, who had 14 points.

Even though they lost, Flowing Wells smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Cienega waltzed into their matchup on Monday with seven straight wins... but they left with eight. They put the hurt on the Apaches with a sharp 79-54 win. Given the Bobcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 45th, while the Apaches are ranked 183rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Cienega pushed their record up to 16-5 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 82.5 points per game. As for Flowing Wells, their loss dropped their record down to 3-17.

Flowing Wells was taken down by Cienega 87-30 when the teams last played back in January. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Flowing Wells was down 49-23.
