Baseball Recap: Parkdale Wins Going Away Against Wise

Parkdale hadn't done well against Wise recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Panthers put the hurt on the Pumas with a sharp 11-4 win. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by seven runs or more this season.

Gio Velasquez made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Velasquez was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two).

In other batting news, Chris Arredondo was excellent, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That triple marked the first that he hit this season. James Edmond was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Parkdale always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wise only posted an OBP of .323.

The victory made it two in a row for Parkdale and bumps their season record up to 5-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 5 runs in those games. As for Wise, they dropped their record down to 2-10 with the loss, which was their fourth straight at home.

Coming up, Parkdale will face off against Laurel on Tuesday. The Panthers are facing the Spartans at the right time seeing as the Spartans are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Wise, they will be playing at home against Eleanor Roosevelt at 4:30 p.m. on the 22nd. The Pumas' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Raiders have averaged an impressive 8 runs per game this season.
