Recap: Poyen Indians vs. Conway Christian Eagles
It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Poyen Indians can now relate to. They fell 39-32 to Conway Christian on Friday. Poyen was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Conway Christian apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2019.
Jeryn Thomas went supernova for Conway Christian, rushing for 78 yards and two touchdowns, while also throwing for 203 yards and two touchdowns while completing 72.2% of his passes. Hudson Welch did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 89 receiving yards.
This is the second loss in a row for Poyen and nudges their season record down to 5-6. As for Conway Christian, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season.
Poyen does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Conway Christian will face off against East Poinsett County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. East Poinsett County is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last nine games.
