Softball Recap: Cardinal Mooney Continues Home Dominance on Tuesday

Cardinal Mooney proved they can win big last Tuesday (they won by ten) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out the Southwest Florida Christian King 5-3. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 6-3 back in February.

Kaitlyn Will spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on nine hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Olivia Lockhart was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Proffitt, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Cardinal Mooney pushed their record up to 11-5 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 7.7 runs. As for Southwest Florida Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 12-9.

Looking ahead, Cardinal Mooney will be playing in front of their home fans against Braden River at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Southwest Florida Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
