Basketball Recap: Stargate School Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Stargate School can now relate to. They took a blow against the Coal Ridge Titans on Friday, falling 76-40. The Eagles' loss continues a trend for the team, making it four in a row.

Despite the loss, Stargate School still got an impressive performance from Hunter Roark, who posted 13 points and five boards. Another player making a difference was Colton Cottrell, who put up three points in addition to five rebounds and four steals.

Ben Simons was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 23 points and 20 boards for Coal Ridge. Those 20 rebounds gave Simons a new career-high. Diego Gamez was another key player, going 6-for-10 en route to 15 points and five steals.

Stargate School's defeat dropped their record down to 10-14. As for Coal Ridge, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 15 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season.

Stargate School does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Coal Ridge, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 46-43 win against DSST: Green Valley Ranch on the 8th.
