Volleyball Recap: Hiawatha Gets the Win + How To Watch

The Hiawatha Hawks earned a 2-0 victory over the Freeport Pretzels on Wednesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Hawks.

While Hiawatha might've won, it sure wasn't easy: Freeport scored at least 18 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 25-18.

Delaney Wood paced Hiawatha's offense, picking up 12 kills. Wood got some help from Mallory Banks and her 17 assists. Makayla Conlee controlled things from the service line, finishing with six aces.

Freeport's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Grace Muench, who had nine digs and two assists, and Lexi Lingle, who had seven digs and four assists.

Hiawatha's win bumped their record up to 6-18. As for Freeport, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 13 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-13 record this season.

Hiawatha will head out to take on Harvest Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Freeport, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Boylan Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
