Basketball Recap: Utica Academy of Science Drops Highest Score of Season Against Canastota

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Utica Academy of Science). They took their match on Thursday with ease, bagging a 90-40 win over the Canastota Red Raiders. With the Atoms ahead 50-17 at the half, the game was all but over already.

Utica Academy of Science's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Akol Machteng, who almost dropped a triple-double on 22 points, 11 boards, and nine steals. Machteng's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Amari Berkley, who went 9 of 12 on his way to 20 points along with eight assists and three steals.

Utica Academy of Science was working as a unit and finished the game with 22 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Utica Academy of Science has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.5 points per game. As for Canastota, they dropped their record down to 2-9 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
