Basketball Game Preview: Newton-Conover Red Devils vs. Hickory Red Tornadoes + How To Watch

The Newton-Conover Red Devils will head out on the road to face off against the Hickory Red Tornadoes at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Newton-Conover is looking for their season's first victory.

On Tuesday, Newton-Conover came up short against East Lincoln and fell 47-36.

Newton-Conover's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Mira Sigmon, who posted 17 points and eight rebounds, and Jenna Sain, who shot 43% from the field en route to 13 points and eight boards. That was a full 36.1% of the Red Devils' points, marking the fifth time in a row Sain has had more than a third of the team's points.

Meanwhile, Hickory took their contest on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 54-25 win over Bunker Hill. The Red Tornadoes haven't had any issues with the Bears recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Newton-Conover's loss dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Hickory, their win bumped their record up to 2-0.

Things could have been worse for Newton-Conover, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 58-40 loss to Hickory in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. Can the Red Devils avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
