Softball Game Preview: Beaverton Beavers vs. Mountainside Mavericks

Beaverton hasn't had much luck against Mountainside recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Beavers will venture away from home to square off against the Mavericks at 5:00 p.m. Beaverton has given up an average of 8.1 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

On Wednesday, Beaverton came up short against Liberty and fell 11-8.

Halle LaFontaine was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Kennedy Riedel, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Meanwhile, Mountainside came tearing into Wednesday's matchup with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.9 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 5-1 win over the Crusaders.

Tenley Jukkula was excellent, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one run and one double. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Libby Wilson, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Beaverton's loss dropped their record down to 9-12. As for Mountainside, their victory bumped their record up to 17-4.

Beaverton suffered a grim 14-0 defeat to Mountainside in their previous matchup two weeks ago. Can the Beavers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
