Recap: North Fork Miners vs. Gunnison Cowboys
The North Fork Miners lost to the Gunnison Cowboys back in February of 2023, but the North Fork Miners didn't allow the Gunnison Cowboys the same satisfaction on Friday. North Fork skirted past Gunnison 38-35.
North Fork found their leader in underclassman Alyssa Lovelace, who scored 19 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Lovelace has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Sidney Neff, who scored four points along with six rebounds.
Gunnison's loss came despite strong showings from Sienna Gomez and Kylee McDougal. Gomez scored 18 points along with nine rebounds, while McDougal scored nine points along with six rebounds and two steals. McDougal hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Yaslin Hernandez was another key contributor, scoring no points along with four steals.
North Fork's win bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Gunnison, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5.
North Fork won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Roaring Fork at 2:30 p.m. on January 13th. Gunnison won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Aspen at 3:00 p.m. on January 13th. Aspen comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 25 points in their last five games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
