Football Recap: Burkburnett Comes Up Short

Burkburnett extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to six on Friday, dropping them down to 0-5. They had to suffer through a 62-13 loss at the hands of the Jacksboro Tigers. The Bulldogs were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-7.

Burkburnett's loss came despite strong showings from Griffen Johnston and George Moseley. Johnston picked up 115 receiving yards and one score, while Moseley picked up 76 receiving yards and one TD. With that strong performance, Johnston is now averaging an impressive 101 receiving yards per game.

Burkburnett didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Joseph Montgomery and Sam Easter.

Jacksboro's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-4. Their offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Jacksboro got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Wyatt Gavit out in front who threw for 357 yards and four touchdowns while completing 85.2% of his passes. Isaac Wesson was in the mix as well, providing the Tigers with two TDs.

Burkburnett and Jacksboro will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next contests. The next time the Bulldogs see the field they'll take on Graham at 7:00 p.m. on the 10th. As for Jacksboro, their break will end when they face City View at 7:30 p.m. on the 10th.
