Baseball Recap: Newton Falls Takes a Loss

Newton Falls came into this matchup off a tough eight-run loss on Thursday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Champion Golden Flashes by a score of 6-4 on Friday. The Tigers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Golden Flashes earlier this season, when they won 2-1.

Newton Falls saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Leland Vargo, who went 1-for-2 with two runs.

This is the second loss in a row for Newton Falls and nudges their season record down to 10-7. As for Champion, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-8 record this season.

Coincidentally, Newton Falls and Champion will both be playing Southeast the next time they take the field. The Tigers will host the Pirates at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, while the Golden Flashes will head out to face them at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
