Preview: Cortland Purple Tigers vs. Mexico Tigers
The Cortland Purple Tigers will be playing at home against the Mexico Tigers at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Cortland focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Thursday.
Cortland suffered their biggest loss since December 12, 2023 on Thursday. They were beaten by Westhill 76-39. Cortland was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 41-19.
Cortland's loss came about despite a quality game from Jaxson Gambitta, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Owen Michales, who scored five points.
Mexico posted their biggest victory yet this season on Saturday. Everything went their way against Alexandria Central as Mexico made off with a 57-37 win.
Cortland bumped their record down to 2-9 with that loss, which was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Mexico, their victory bumped their record up to 4-5.
Cortland didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Mexico in their previous meeting back in January of 2017, but they still walked away with a 56-50 win. Does Cortland have another victory up their sleeve, or will Mexico turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
