Softball Recap: Fairland Dragons vs. South Point Pointers
Fairland extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 19 on Friday, dropping their season record down to 0-18 in the process. They came up short against the South Point Pointers, falling 13-3. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Pointers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-0 back in April.
Fairland saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nevaeh Clark, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double. Isa Taliaferro also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
As for South Point, their victory bumped their record up to 11-6. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by eight runs or more this season.
On South Point's side, the team relied heavily on Adyson Copley, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits Copley has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Alli Stidham, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Looking ahead, Fairland will take on Northwest at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for South Point, they will challenge Chesapeake at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Pointers are facing the Panthers at the right time seeing as the Panthers are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
