Baseball Recap: Russell Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

While Russell's victory against Fairland wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Red Devils had just enough and edged out the Dragons 3-2 on Friday. Winning may never get old, but the Red Devils sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Caleb Groves looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Gunnar Hignite was excellent, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Dawson Wada, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Russell's record now sits at 19-7. As for Fairland, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-11.

Looking ahead, Russell will take on Expression Prep Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Fairland, they will challenge Raceland at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Dragons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Rams have averaged an impressive 7.3 runs per game this season.
