Baseball Recap: Greenwood Comes Up Short

Greenwood suffered their biggest defeat since March 11th on Tuesday. They came up short against the J.L. Mann Patriots, falling 10-3. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Patriots apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2021.

Greenwood got a good showing from Elliott Lantz, who tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Lantz has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in 11 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Greenwood saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Luke Godwin, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI. Grayson Ellenberg also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Greenwood's defeat dropped their record down to 9-9. As for J.L. Mann, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-7.

While Greenwood had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
