League recap: China Spring's league-best three wins lead to standings climb

3A Region III District 17 league recap: 3/27/13

China Spring outperformed the rest of the league this week, as its three total wins led the league. The Cougars beat Lorena 1-0.

La Vega made the biggest jump in the standings this week, moving from sixth to third place in 3A Region III District 17 thanks to a 1-0 record over the past seven days. Meanwhile, the Leopards fell hardest in the standings, dropping from first all the way to fourth place after going 0-2 in the past week. First-place China Spring (10-1, 2-0) went 3-0 over the past week.

Lorena boasted the best pitching over the past week, holding opponents to the league's fewest hits and issuing the fewest walks.

There were three hitters that batted over .400 in the league this week. They were led by Chris Harrison, who hit .429 this week (3-for-7).

The week's strikeout crown belonged to Dane Lovejoy, who turned in eight Ks for the Leopards. He's first in the league with 59 total strikeouts.



The Cougars' lovejoy struck out eight Lorena hitters en route to a 1-0 victory on March 26.
