Volleyball Game Preview: Fort Atkinson Blackhawks vs. Marshall Cardinals

The Fort Atkinson Blackhawks will venture away from home to face off against the Marshall Cardinals at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Fort Atkinson barely beat Jefferson the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Blackhawks blew past the Eagles 3-0 on Thursday. That three set margin sets a new team best for the Blackhawks this season.

While Fort Atkinson won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the second set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 26-24, 25-20.

Meanwhile, Marshall entered their tilt with Waterloo on Thursday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Pirates.

Marshall had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 24-26, 25-21, 26-24, 25-17.

Fort Atkinson's win bumped their record up to 8-17. As for Marshall, their victory bumped their record up to 20-9.

Fort Atkinson couldn't quite get it done against Marshall when the teams last played back in October of 2024 as they fell 2-0. Can the Blackhawks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
