Basketball Recap: Peotone Falls Despite Big Games from Callie Weiss and Payton Pape

Peotone had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They fell 49-37 to the Oak Forest Bengals on Tuesday. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it seven in a row.

Peotone's loss came despite strong showings from Payton Pape and Callie Weiss. Pape posted 12 points and four steals, while Weiss scored four points and four steals. Weiss is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last five games she's played dating back to last season. Kiersten Bettenhausen was another key player, putting up six points.

The win got Oak Forest back to even at 1-1.

Looking ahead, Peotone will take on Andrew in a tournament on Thursday. As for Oak Forest, they will take on Crete-Monee at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
