Softball Recap: Jamestown Snags Third Win in Last Four Games

Jamestown came out on top against Slippery Rock on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run sixth inning. The Muskies never let the Rockets get on the board and left with a 9-0 win. Considering the Muskies have won five contests by more than seven runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Miranda Biles made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Kinlie Kirila was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Hannah Scriven was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Jamestown was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Slippery Rock only posted a batting average of .136.

Jamestown is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Slippery Rock, their loss dropped their record down to 2-9.

Jamestown didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 1-0 win against Hickory on the 30th. Slippery Rock has also already played their next contest (against Franklin), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
