Chaparral had lost five straight at home dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 0-5 to make it six. They took a 34-29 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Ponderosa Mustangs. On the bright side, the 29- point performance marked the Wolverines' highest-scoring matchup to date.

Chaparral didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Beckett Bacon and Tyler Young.

As for Ponderosa, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-2. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to yards per carry: they averaged an imposing 5.35 yards per carry in those games compared to only 3.2 in the others.

Noah Anacleto was his usual excellent self, throwing for 299 yards and five touchdowns. Christian Caracostas was Anacleto's top target, picking up 61 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Chaparral didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 47-3 defeat against Regis Jesuit on the 3rd. As for Ponderosa, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 40-7 loss against Dakota Ridge on the 2nd.
