Basketball Recap: Burke County Has No Trouble Against Denmark-Olar

Burke County had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They enjoyed a cozy 68-53 win over the Denmark-Olar Vikings on Saturday.

De'Quayvian Lovette was nothing short of spectacular: he went 9-for-19 en route to 20 points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals. He has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Braylen Bellamy, who posted eight points.

Burke County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in six consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Denmark-Olar's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Coming up, Burke County will look to takes advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they takes on East Jackson at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Denmark-Olar, they will square off against Midland Valley at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
