Basketball Recap: Estes Park Piles Up the Points Against Gilpin County

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Lyons, Estes Park was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They took their contest with ease, bagging a 76-14 victory over the Gilpin County Eagles. That looming 76-14 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Bobcats yet this season.

Estes Park's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Hayden Powell, who almost dropped a triple-double on 20 points, ten boards, and nine steals. With that strong performance, Powell is now averaging an impressive 8.1 boards per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Phineas Smith, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 boards.

Estes Park was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Gilpin County only posted four assists.

Estes Park's victory bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Gilpin County, their defeat was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-7.

Estes Park will face off against Dayspring Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Gilpin County, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 46-28 loss against North Park on the 11th.
