For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Andrews and Monahans meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Friday. The Mustangs sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 25-22 win over the Loboes. The victory almost wasn't to be: the Mustangs were down 22-8 in the third quarter.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Beau Hudson and JaeSean DeBouse. Hudson rushed for 157 yards and one touchdown on only 14 carries while DeBouse gained 89 total yards and two touchdowns. Hudson really tore up the turf during one magnificent 87-yard run.

Andrews didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Adrian Miller and Brody Figueroa. Andrews got some further help from Sammy Saldivar: he made 14 total tackles (2.0 for loss).

With the win, Andrews broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-3. As for Monahans, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Andrews will challenge Estacado at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Monahans, they will take on Pecos at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
