Softball Recap: Peoria Notre Dame Takes a Loss

Peoria Notre Dame had lost three straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 8-8 to make it four. They fell just short of the Deer Creek-Mackinaw Chiefs by a score of 3-2. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Irish of the 17-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Ella Tady was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

As for Deer Creek-Mackinaw, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games.

On Deer Creek-Mackinaw's side, Emily Stauffer spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on six hits.

On the hitting side, Deer Creek-Mackinaw's victory was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Addyson Carithers, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI. Madisyn Droege also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Coming up, Peoria Notre Dame will square off against Bloomington Central Catholic at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Deer Creek-Mackinaw, they will face off against Lexington at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Chiefs are facing the Minutemen at the right time seeing as the Minutemen are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
