Union Mine is 0-3 against Sutter since March of 2022 but things could change on Wednesday. The Diamondbacks will venture away from home to challenge the Huskies at 4:00 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Union Mine lost a heartbreaker the last time they played El Dorado, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Thursday's contest. The Diamondbacks blew past the Cougars 14-2 on Thursday. The Diamondbacks' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Nate Gregson made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over six innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2025. He was also big at the plate, going 4-for-5 with one home run, seven RBI, and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Union Mine's success: when he posts at least three hits the team is undefeated (and 7-14 when he doesn't).
In other batting news, Brycen Cramer was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four runs and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Parker Taylor, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
Union Mine kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.9 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 9.2.
Meanwhile, Sutter had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.4 runs) and they went ahead and made it eight on Friday. They put the hurt on the Lions with a sharp 8-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Huskies, who have now won 13 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Aiden Zwissig was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Karter Johnson, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last seven times he's played. Another player making a difference was Cole Callison, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
Union Mine's record now sits at 10-14. As for Sutter, their record is now 22-4.
Union Mine came up short against Sutter in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, falling 4-0. Can the Diamondbacks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
