Football Recap: Brookland-Cayce Takes a Loss

Brookland-Cayce and Gray Collegiate Academy squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Brookland-Cayce had to settle for second. They were outmatched by the War Eagles and fell 63-7. While losing is never fun, the Bearcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 125th, while the War Eagles are ranked 16th).

Andrew Frick threw for 151 yards and one TD. Bennett Plane was his top target, picking up 67 receiving yards and one score. On the ground, Avery King rushed for 72 yards.

Trevon Williamson produced another solid effort rushing for 222 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 10.1 yards per carry for Gray Collegiate Academy. Those four rushing touchdowns gave Williamson a new career-high. Nate Dixon also helped with three TDs in total.

Brookland-Cayce has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season. As for Gray Collegiate Academy, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 9-2.

Brookland-Cayce does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Gray Collegiate Academy, they will be playing at home against Hartsville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 943 yards in their previous games.
