Softball Preview: Hancock Eagles vs. Taft Eagles
Hancock is 0-4 against Taft since May of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Hancock Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Taft Eagles at 4:30 p.m.
Last Friday, Hancock suffered a rough 11-2 defeat at the hands of Oak Lawn.
Hannah Scuito made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two runs, a triple, and a double. Another player making a difference was Natalia Holguin, who went 3-for-3 with a stolen base, a double, and an RBI.
Meanwhile, Taft was able to grind out a solid win over Greendale on Saturday, taking the game 9-5.
Samantha Ricken was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-5. Jiselle Hernandez was another key contributor, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.
Hancock's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Taft, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season.
Hancock suffered a grim 16-6 defeat to Taft in their previous matchup back in March of 2023. Thankfully for Hancock, Dehne Schoen (who struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off three hits) won't be suiting up this time.
