Softball Recap: North Stokes Comes Up Short

North Stokes was the 5-1 winner over Cornerstone Charter when they last played one another back in April of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. North Stokes fell just short of Cornerstone Charter by a score of 13-12 on Thursday. The Vikings' loss continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

Rori Long stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Madelyn Spencer, who went 4-for-5 with four RBI and one run.

Long wasn't the only one working in the hit department: North Stokes kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's a new trend for North Stokes: they were averaging 4.2 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 10.8.

North Stokes' defeat dropped their record down to 3-6-1. As for Cornerstone Charter, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. North Stokes will challenge South Stokes at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Cornerstone Charter, they will square off against Southern Guilford at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
