Eastern Christian HomeSchool hit Greenville Christian Academy with a seven-run fifth inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Knights lost 12-2 to the Trailblazers. Having soared to a lofty 16 runs in the game before, the Knights couldn't push the score so high this time.
Greenville Christian Academy saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jaxon Heath, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double. That double was Heath's first of the season.
Meanwhile, Southside Christian beat New Life Christian Academy 11-7 on Monday. The victory continues a trend for Southside Christian in their matchups with New Life Christian Academy: they've now won three in a row.
Jason Burke made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out nine batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off three hits. Burke was also big at the plate, going 1-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Southside Christian's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-4 when he doesn't).
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jonah Smith, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. He has become a key player for Southside Christian: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 2-4 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Landon Pourron, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Southside Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in March of 2024.
Greenville Christian Academy's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-4. As for Southside Christian, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Greenville Christian Academy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Southside Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 5.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Greenville Christian Academy's way against Southside Christian in their previous meeting back in March, as Greenville Christian Academy made off with a 10-4 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Knights since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
