Football Recap: Madison Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Madison can now relate to. The contest between the Patriots and the West Davidson Dragons didn't end well, with the Patriots falling 28-13. Having soared to a lofty 31 points in the game before, the Patriots couldn't push the score so high this time.

When it comes to explaining why Madison lost on Friday, don't look at Dallas Bartlett. Despite the final result, he rushed for 86 yards, and also threw for 90 yards and a pair of touchdowns. The Patriots also got a significant boost from Ivan Blankenship, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 85 yards.

Carson Correll produced another solid effort rushing for 154 yards and two TDs on only eight carries, while also throwing for 73 yards and one touchdown for West Davidson. Correll has become a key player for the Dragons: the team is undefeated when he posts at least 80 rushing yards, but 2-3 otherwise.

Madison dropped their record down to 4-7 with the loss, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for West Davidson, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 8-3.

Madison does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for West Davidson, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 31-21 victory against Providence Grove on the 14th.
